Specialty pharmacy is defined as therapies for chronic conditions, which consist of costly medication, utilization, and administration requiring complex care therapies that must be managed and monitored for positive outcomes. In managing these therapies specialized delivery and administration is required as well as monitoring the patient by reviewing lab work and assessment of the patient to ensure that the benefit of receiving the drug outweighs the risks.
